Grammarly for Education, formerly Grammarly Premium, is an online service that can help you improve spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and style in your writing. Grammarly uses grammar-checking technology to review and improve text at lightning speed, correcting grammar, spelling, word choice, and style mistakes with extreme accuracy.
As you type, Grammarly checks your text for hundreds of common and advanced writing issues. It checks for grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement, article use, and modifier placement; and it also checks for contextual spelling mistakes, phonetic spelling mistakes, and irregular verb conjugations. Grammarly also provides synonym and other word-choice suggestions to make your writing more readable and precise.
How do I access Grammarly?
Grammarly for Education is available for use by all current Piedmont University students, staff, and faculty. You must create a personal account to use Grammarly, and you must use your Piedmont University email address as an identifier. No other identification is needed.
- Go to grammarly.com/enterprise/signup.
- You must provide your Piedmont University email address -- @lions.piedmont.edu or @piedmont.edu -- no other email will be recognized.
- Then create your own password. We recommend using the same password you use for other college accounts online.
- Grammarly will send you an activation email.
- Check your inbox for the email (check your spam folder too or your Clutter or Focused folder!), click on the activation link, and now you're ready to use the service.
- After you sign up, you can log in to Grammarly here.
- The Library recommends installing the plug-in for Word or your web browser for greatest ease and effectiveness of use.
